At age two Benjamin was diagnosed with Retnoblastoma (cancer) in both eyes. Immediately he was put on chemo-therapy to try and save his eyes, but it didn’t work. His right eye was removed in April of 1994 and after 10 months of chemo and 6 weeks of radiation which also did not work his left eye was removed. In May 2007 Benjamin was diagnosed with a recurrence cancer, at this time the doctors weren’t able to positively identify the type of cancer. Benjamin endured 10 ½ hours of brain and sinus surgery. This time around Ben has endured 8 weeks of aggressive chemo and 5 weeks of radiation that seemed to work, but the doctors are very concerned of the cancer recurring. Benjamin and I have decided that he won’t take anymore chemo and his body has taken all the radiation that it can handle so we are at peace with what ever the outcome. We thank God for giving us this opportunity to share hope with others.
